Given your current equipment - I would probably go for the flail for now more than the dagger. You'd only get 2 hits/turn with the flail, but the much bigger damage dice will more than compensate for the loss of the attack. The flail also has a brand element and a slay to help out its damage bonus. The added stealth would help a fair amount as well.

I can't answer the Balrog question - though I still think you are better off with Haradekket over Nimloth. I'd probably avoid him until I had better speed - and just continue diving until you find some.
