***FEANOR***

My level jumped from 28 to 39 instantly, granting me 6 attacks/round, and with that kind of offensive power, the Cloning Pits is pretty much a given unless you have retardedly bad luck with random spawns like Jack of Shadows. Nothing else terribly good cropped up from Cloning Pits, but in addition to artifacts, Cloning Pits yielded two items critical to the challenge: two Pots of *Healing*. Oh yes, and I picked up a copy of Nature's Gifts there too.

On to the Old Castle, which was an absolute breeze at level 40. Nothing terribly good in the quest itself except 2 more pots of *healing* but of course not much beats the Jacket of Shiva's Avatar in the armor slot.

As I had all resists covered except for disenchant, and with a speed of +24, off to Angband. I made my way to Morivant without using the onerous time-cutting trick in the wilderness with teleport scrolls, as +24 speed made it pretty quick. Fortunatley, when I hit Morivant, I remembered to teleport back to Outpost to get the Yeek Cave on my dungeon log, so that once I went into Angband, I could recall to Yeek Cave and come back out in Outpost, saving much valuable time.

Town teleported back to Morivant, went to the Trump Tower, and immediately went to dlvl 98. Before I took 10 steps I noticed a line tunneling right for me, and assumed it was the Destroyer. I prepared to pound it to oblivion, with my 220 AC (with stone skin), but it turned out to be Gothmog. He was one step ahead as I didn't have Resist Environment cast, so I cast that, and fortunately, as his next move was to spew fire in my face. I slapped him down to around half health, and then he rudely summoned two Cyberdemons to toy with me. With 1000 HP, I decided to chance it and kept beating on him until he turned tail--I ran into the corridor he delved and finished him off, luckily out of LOS of the Cyberdemons. I was also doubly lucky that they didn't fire any rockets in the time it took me to whip Gothmog until he fled out of their LOS--not that I would have died, but that I would have wasted a valuable pot of *healing*.

He dropped Fingolfin, which brought me up to level 45, with a good boost in damage.

On to Oberon, and was he somewhat of a pain in the arse, blinking all over the place. I was able to set up an anti-summoning corridor, and beat his face in, using several casts of Herbal Healing and one pot of *healing* in the process. As he suffered the final strike right to his solar plexus, he coughed out his Blood Curse, which summoned Corwin and Hela, which meant teleport time. It was a minor pain leading them away so that I could get at the Oberon's loot, but my diligence paid off, giving me Amber and Narya. At level 49 with those goodies, I decided what the heck, lets go for it!

Not a terribly eventful Serpent battle, but I did end up using my remaining three pots of *healing* and two casts of Herbal Healing, so in summary, the stars were pretty much perfectly aligned for this win. Probably what made the biggest difference was the retardedly lucky find of Feanor in Cloning Pits, which has never, ever ever happened, and will likely never happen again, but I'll enjoy it while the glow lasts!

The only thing I regret not doing before I retired was going to the arena to become a Day 1 TRUE Winner, but hey, good enough...and don't even think about suggesting that as a challenge, Chris and Dave!!!!!!
