45th installment. Quick lessons for myself from the get-go: Get scrolls of teleportation! Get PoCCWs! Watch for hidden lava! Don't forget needed spellbooks! Now, that being said, let's rock n' roll!

After ~2 hours of work, I'm back in business. At this point, almost all of the major home quests have been completed, plus retrieval of Hammerhand from the Minotaur. And all of this has been recorded to a Cmovie, since the very beginning.

Still alive and still going strong. Took out the White Balrog, Old Man Willow, Ulfang, and Feagwath. That's right, I destroyed Feagwath too. While on the same level, I tried to clean up the rest of dungeon lvl 75 of PoTD. 'Listen to the Music' also detected Thengel and 'Bullseye' on the level. Unfortunately, I ran out of space and I didn't feel like messing with these lingering high level adversaries. So, I recalled out of there.

Looks like this one will carry the torch from the original Void's Bane. It's about freaking time! Right now, I just finished the EvilQuest! in Khazad-Dum. The Greater Balrogs' summoning of more greater demons got kind of annoying. I used phase door to create void jumpgates to attack the Greater Balrogs and Pit Fiends, and their buddies, and take cover 'by the gate' when the HP became a problem. It worked very well! The Lesser Balrogs were taken out right away with manathrusts. I also snagged Cubragol from Smaug at dungeon lvl 50 prior to this. Currently, I'm at +14 speed unhasted, which looks good already. I think I'll stop right now, and come back later.

*Me wonders if I can take on Trone yet. Maybe...*

Believe it or not, the Cmovie has been ongoing for ~3 1/2 hours ever since I started it. So yes, everything from the beginning at char lvl 1 to char lvl 37, with recent completion the EvilQuest!, has been recorded on that Cmovie file. And yes, it took me approx. 3 1/2 hours to get this far in ToME. Cool, huh? If anyone is interested in seeing the Cmovie of Voidbane 45, let me know. It's a huge 134MB file.

Big update:
Went after Trone at dungeon lvl 75 of SLoM. He wasn't too much of a problem because I was like +10 faster than he was. :) However, thanks to 'Listen to the Music' again, I had to stay on the level to look for 15 artifacts that were detected. Yes, 15 non-random artifacts! Wow! I really need alternative ways of IDing items, besides 'Listen to the Music' because it can get aggravating to find out that THAT artifacts are present on the level. LOL!

Here are the artifacts I found on this level:
The Thunderlord Coat of Trone
The Thunderlord Coat of Marda
The Set of Gauntlets of Eol
The Star of Elendil
The Plantir of Orthanc
The Arkenstone of Thrain
The Soft Leather Armour 'Hithlomir'
The Augmented Chain Mail of Caspanion
The Anchor of Space-Time
The Crumpled Scroll of Mass Resurrection
The Harp of Maglor
The Rounded Pebble 'Travak'
The Short Bow of Amras
Found The Broad Sword 'Orcrist'
The Whip 'Lasher'
and 2 randarts weapons

Even worse, Azriel showed up again and I initially couldn't find Eol's Gauntlets anywhere on the ground. Eventually, I found it in the remains of a Great Bile Wyrm. After that I decided to clear out the level. I faced off Azriel and I was like, "Oh no! Not you again!" This time, I got my revenge. However, the fool didn't drop anything interesting. Among other things, I picked up loads of Tomes for me to use, and a Ring of Speed (+11) from a Great Hell Wyrm! I got the random teleportation corruption too. So no worries about getting the anti-teleportation corruption.

*Me wonders if I can take on the Necromancer yet.* Decisions, decisions. Maybe I'll try taking on the Submerged Ruins. But, I'll have to be extremely careful if I do this!

Decided to go after Ar-Pharazon to get his Blue Stone and I succeeded! Yes! Taking on him in the Submerged Ruins was kind of tricky because the suffocating hurts A LOT! So, I prepared myself by having purchased 55 potions of CCW. I switched into Trone's coat for the added CON. When I killed him and got the Blue Stone, I was down to 31 Potions of CCW! Scary, isn't it? Now that I have the Blue Stone, I have a mega amount of mana at my disposal. It's above 1600 now! This is going be fun.

On 5.2.2011 01:17 Phoenix21692 wrote:
Destroyed The Necromancer of Dol Guldur! Yay! God damn! I HATE this guy! Finally, I have a Voidbane who took down this bastard. When I took on this guy, I had only 257 HP. I decided to take on the Necromancer anyway. In my approach, I stayed hasted to almost +50 and did a peek-a-boo strategy. I hasted myself, got him in my LOS, did one manathrust and then, I teleported myself away. I came back. Struck another hit, and teleported away. I repeated this sequence, as stated, hopefully to distract him and get him before he could react. He did summon some greater undead once. But, he never used mana storm, which was the bane of my existence. Eventually, I destroyed him and that was it. On the other hand, I could have done like 10 consecutive manathrusts without teleporting. But, the Necromancer sometimes likes to invoke the mana storm, which hurts A LOT! So, I used a more conservative approach and my extra speed gave me the edge.

I actually did not have a chance to record this into a Cmovie. Sorry. The reason is because I closed the ToME application after killing Trone, to take a break. And no, it didn't crash. When I re-opened Voidbane 45, to take on Ar-Pharazon and eventually The Necromancer, I forgot to record another set. Either way, I hope you find my aforementioned tactics (for Ar-Pharazon and The Necromancer) more or less useful.

By the way, here's Voidbane 45's total playing time up to Post-Necromancer battle (last dump):
approx. 5-5.5 hours (since creation of Voidbane 45)

Looks like I put up a good show! :)

Time for a break, or even a hiatus, I guess.

Yeah, I know. I was trying to show off some absurd feats as a Spectre Troll Sorceror...like taking on the EvilQuest! in Khazad-Dum, Trone, and the Necromancer, with very low HP (257), and yet I'm still at char lvl 40.

If anyone has any trouble beating Trone or Necromancer as a sorceror, let me know! I can offer some tips. ;)
