After the scummy nastiness of my previous winner, I decided to run a rather more ethically clean character this time. Myrddin, in what must be a first for me, didn't steal a single thing during his whole career, though he did abuse LOS quite a bit (with less than 500 HP it was that or die).

Forgetting to talk to Galadriel after killing the Necromancer, I killed Sauron five times before realising that I hadn't officially got the One Ring Quest yet. That was very, very annoying. Almost as annoying as the Aether Hound on Mount Doom who decided to breath Force at me while I was standing over the Great Fire, knocking me away, and waking everything up. Fortunately I was at +50 speed, so I was able to drop the Ring and get out in the nick of time.

Was this some kind of challenge game, that you play a low-HP class with only 35 CON? That's 164 HP you gave up...

Why not use Flare instead of Narya? You surely didn't need Narya's resists...

You're right, I probably should have worn Flare instead. However, I didn't find Flare until level 95 of Angband, and I was managing well enough without it (since I had the Conveyance Recall spell and Fire Immunity, I wasn't particularly looking for it), so it was more a case of forgetting that it boosted CON as well, and not being bothered swapping it in. Narya, at the time I acquired it, was also a convenient source of nether resistance (until that shield came along soon after).

As for the low CON, I worshipped Melkor prior to destroying the Ring (the +3 to CON got removed at the destruction of the Ring), and before finding Cubragol on level 101 of Angband, I was getting an additional +2 from Amrod's Bow. So for the vast majority of the later game my CON was at 40.

As an aside, I think this might be the lowest max-HP winner to have destroyed the Ring. Lower max-HP winners certainly exist (Neil's legendary 58 HP sorceror, and a 270-odd HP Dark Elf sorceror, plus my ultra-scummy 120 HP Unbeliever), but all seem to have worn the Ring. In hindsight I was damn lucky that Undead Form was never triggered.
