Alert BUG!?

My blows are bugging only noticed it now but i think it only happened after l30. I have 8 blows? However if i remove weapons and wield soulsword i only have 7 blows.. when i wield sting offhand or alone it becomes 8.. on both. I've managed to enchant sting 1 time for damage but it doesnt seem to add stats for extra 1 just blows.

When i first noticed this bug i had 7 on soul and 8 on sting. Then i continued and later both were 8. I havent actually checked if i hit for 8 times or not / weap.

+1 blow has migrated from level 40 to 30 or bug?

On 4.12.2010 15:16 chris wrote:
Are you sure it isn't just the +2 Str and +2 Dex from Sting? The blows calculation is a bit complicated, but completely determined from your Str, Dex and the Weapon's weight. Probably, you are right on the boundary of a 6'th attack with Soulsword and the stat boosts from Sting put you over the top. You can work the calculation here:

http://www.kmc.gr.jp/~henkma/heng-e/num_blows/index.html

I haven't changed it at all. The only caveat is when the spoiler says "'div' is min(weight of the wielding weapon , 'wgt')" they mean max. (See, I'm not the only one that messes up Min/Max stuff!)

On 4.12.2010 15:26 chris wrote:
OK, I'll do the calc. For wielding Soulsword with 2 hands:
Mul = 5.
Div = 130.
Str_Index = 140 * 5/130 = 5. Two hands bumps to 6.
Dex_Index = 10.
That's 5 attacks base, or 7 with the +2 attacks.

Soulsword with the extra stats from dual wielding Sting:
Str_Index = 160 * 5/130 = 6.
Dex_Index = 11.
That's 6 attacks base, or 8 with the +2 attacks.

On 4.12.2010 15:40 Antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Ah hmm i guess warriors are 6+1 at 40 then? Weird at one point i had 7/8 attacks but i suppose it was due to soulsword weight then. But yes my mistake was thinking it should be 5 attacks till 40 then +1. And since single wielding seemed to confirm this but it happened only due to stats being low enough to drop 1 blow from Soulsword.

Man my Con is so low cant find any Con pots. Jack spanked me bigtime. Cant shoot or he always retaliates Darkness storm and if i go behind door he always moves 2 times to move into opened door hit me and teleport away. Couldnt even get any melee in at any point. He ate all my healing pots (and didnt die) which made going to pits kinda a bitch.

WTB 0.23 so i can at least consider shooting mobs.

On 4.12.2010 15:45 Antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Might as well update. Only zantetsuken dropped in pits. (Man this cant kill women is annoying but damage is so much better have to wield it anyways).

Ps. Good move to put Frodo +str, So many +dex items around. Tbh dex is a bit too common stat at the expense of STR/con on gear. (Artifacts/thievery/hobbit crap).

Now if i could just collect some healing so i could go castle.

On 4.12.2010 15:46 chris wrote:
Yeah, Warriors end up with 7 attacks base, which is really nice!!

Jack will spank all characters at this point. Run from him until you are CL50 ... He's brutal. My Wild-Talent still runs from him, but has no problems with monsters like Eric, Y'golonac, Rhan-Tegoth, etc. Jack is just scoped 30+ levels lower than he belongs ... treat him like a DL80 monster and act accordingly :D

So.. leather jacket (special) -> Of 1.5 volts... grrr
Executioners sword (special) -> Of Shockness ... WTF

Wtb healing. Damn warrior w/o regen/vampiric/harden elements is quite annoying. Stat drain ftw :(. Low AC on new artifacts doesnt help either.

Suppose i should go with 4 healing pots.. After all i got good damage and good stealth (famous last words).

On 5.12.2010 10:25 Antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Well stealth came through and didnt need any healing. Of course castle is about wether you let summoners get out of control or not.

Nothing gained tho except glaive.

So i prepare for l46 dungeon quest which gets into range that it could be santa. So i prepare.

Not quite adequately though. It is Santa. And he came with a mid sized vault. With 10 uniques including pink Unicorny and gerard. I prepared. But i dont have telepathy,destruction or teleportation so i could follow teleporters.

Well Santa caught me in a room right next to a corridor with him coming in. Great summon corridor for me only a full room space to summon next to me. I get few rounds of melee in before he summon a huge stack of reindeer (wtf did u add these chris?). Its teleport time. Santa runs to me and i get him down. Easy since he didnt summon more or teleport away. And after he is dead random invulnerability kicks in. Well perfect; it's time for Reindeer filet.

Well Pinky finds me while i circle the vault. Hmm wonder what level it is never met him. Moves with superspeed,hits hard and blinks like crazy. Doesnt seem to do much else. Takes a while and i get him fleeing. He is fast so cant really catch him. About 20 arrows later i find out this isnt going to work out. Every arrow i shoot he casts heal on himself for more than i do. Revenge kicking in? luckily he gets offensive and moves closer and i manage to shoot and then move to melee and finish him off.

Vault is hard to access; long open corridor with 3 uniques + lesser titan (ofc a mold/silent watcher blocking em in) who keeps teleporting me outside. I get utgard loke out and he prompty summons 6 greater titans+ various other titans. Pretty good for l44 mob on l46 in dungeon. Good thing i brought few protection from evil scrolls. They didnt help shit vs Gerard and other non evil mobs but titans cant really touch me. I also notice Sword dancing is pretty crappy. Guess you need a vampiric weap.

2-3h later only gerard and part of vault left with no uniques and one 2h sword on the ground (4d6). Dont really need it but Gerard is wanted and only hits 2 times / round apparently and doesnt have ranged power so i go for it. Well he still hurts and i lose a few *Healing* (partly to make sure i survive curse which doesnt come).

Sum of all this effort: Dragon helm of beaty (wtf?). I guess you allowed ego items for dragon crap. Can be nice but also makes artifact crafting harder. This is second ego dragon helm i find.

Saruman did drop Eye of Aethopica .. great item for a warrior :).

Fuck Brand and his horse too. Cant get a break. Dont think any of my last xx chars have gotten the xbow off him or found it later either.

Damage is pretty awesome. AC is horrible. Suppose i gotta start carrying these frost and fire pots cus inventory is blowing up 24/7. I lose more potions to inventory damage than i can find even though i dont use any. maybe antimagic field should protect inventory too, melee needs a break :). Not quite sure but i have a feeling monster Auras destroy stuff too. And with 7+9+1 for horn hits/ turn its no surprise everything gets destroyed.

Gife x/z slots for inventory space?

On 7.12.2010 13:55 antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Well dragon caves ftw. Finally found some decent speed rings. Could go for Glaive+zant now but ..

Chrisdurian is pretty good too but seems you can get max blows even with max stats. Suppose slayer is same since they weigh the same.

Warrior is >> BK :). Damage is awesome from the start and you are much safer keeping HPs up.

The Short Bow of Shiva (x3) (+12,+15) (+4 to speed) {SpStCnSlSrDg;CoShNt;Xm}

That bow looks pretty sweet (as well as appropriately named)! Maybe we should make that a permanent addition to Chengband...

On 7.12.2010 19:06 Antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Yeah its got pretty nice stats/speed and resistances. Wearing it instead of brand which i just recently found. Found nice speed ring +11+haste too.

Found the BK sword as well. Maybe tone down the wounds a bit? Seems excessive even for a BK. But i guess someone bothers to go with the insane switching routine. Weapon damage isnt that high anyways even zantsuken beats it hands down. I think entroband removed 100% zantsuken drop which might be good idea. I got it from pits tho never met Ishi.

You gonna play your BK more dave? I wanna see how you survive.

On 7.12.2010 19:35 dzhang wrote:
Yeah, will do so starting the 20th. I figure I should do at least a little bit of work before I leave for the holidays.

Bloodrip is nice for its other properties, rather than raw damage. It has the same base dice as a Diamond Edge plus extra sharp, so it's like a Diamond Edge that has Vampirism, 3 resistances, +2 CON, and an activation for Whirlwind attack. The last is really what makes the weapon useful, because its 66 turn recharge is one of the faster recharge times. The bleeding is annoying for other classes, but for a BK, I always struggle to maintain a good wound for the bonus to damage, so Bloodrip is a good way of doing that.

Don't forget that BKs get Slay Living. With Zantesuken, that's an extra +25 damage per attack.

On 7.12.2010 20:13 Antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Yeah the aoe attack is useful but i doubt even BK can keep wielding it. Seemed to do cuts at such speed that one would be bleeding 200/turn pretty soon and stay there. Zant is also vorpal and slay living works for it too so no difference in that regard :). Diamond edge is 7d5 but close enough still zant is better at 10d4. But it does have the vampirism. I couldnt wield it too long so i dont know if you get to mortally wounded eventually but cut status seemed to go up all the time. In that case even maxed vampirism doesnt help.

My autodestroyer just did away with wizards cloak. What's that?

On 7.12.2010 20:25 dzhang wrote:
Oh, for Slay Living I meant it was an advantage over the Warrior.

Wizard's Cloak is a cloak type that gives Economize Mana... not useful for a warrior.

WOOT. Shuma-Gorath as l66 quest mob.. 22 levels over? And summons benedict+cyberdemons to boot l79.

Is there some extra nasty effect for l66 quest or whats up with this?

On 8.12.2010 01:28 chris wrote:
Just bad luck, I think. If anything, I made the quest monsters easier as the game used to force them a few levels out of depth. But I found that this sometimes caused infinite loops when I bumped the number of permissible quests up ... I'd fail that one, if I were you!

On 8.12.2010 03:26 antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Well my char is l50 and geared for em already so it was doable. Wasnt really carrying enough healing pots to face ~90l uniques+ companions. But Shuma is a pretty nasty one so seems totally out of whack to get so badass at so low level. Some fast diver wouldnt have a prayer vs him. Fortunately i spent most of my time in dragon caves hunting tiamat so i was prepared.

Good thing is i found a +3 attack ring on the level first time i ever find such. Suppose i have to stick with my speed rings still though.

On 8.12.2010 15:41 Antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Met first Ultimate magus. Fun times. He was in a vault and blinked out and then blinked some more. Quite a pain to kill for relatively low ranged damage char. Hope he isnt too common.

Pimpin'!

Warrior with Robe of Eternity. Time resistance :). Ok so this might not be my best possible damage setup. This item isnt actually that bad for a warrior. Only dragon crap gives easily more AC and this doesnt even have to hit penalty. Sustain stats is pretty hard to come by as well.

On 9.12.2010 03:14 dzhang wrote:
You managed to kill an Ultimate Magus? Good job! How'd you do it? He drops exceptional items, you know...

On 9.12.2010 14:50 Antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Well no chance of hitting him to just with bow. Took a while but i had 39 speed so on occasion got a shot or 2 in. Was bit annoying when it started blinking away and more away. Basically i stood in an opening to a room and waited for it to blink inside the room or into the corridor.

Had to burn quite a bit of healing so not very practical killing those.

On 12.12.2010 18:46 antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Well after a while i started to feel that even lower damage is ok if i can just resist time. And boy is it useful. After finding amber i went for it! I so want to wear terror mask but alas resistances just wont allow it. To hit is kinda bad otherwise setup is nice.

Just found Ymir which was the 2nd last wanted monster now i'd have to go into castle to find charybdis the last one missing. Suppose i should read it on the cloak and hope for a super resistance item so i can wear what i please on other slots.

Ps. Playing warrior i've noticed how bad the damage auras are for multiple blow classes. Maybe BK eye for eye should be changed to immunity to enemy auras. Hitting an aether hound for example gives you an average 200-300 damage / round. Not very good for a class that has to play at low HP. Warrior can take it better since blows are from the start high damage and at 7bpr.

On 20.12.2010 19:56 antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Some weird behavior.

I met an aether hound pack in big room which just wouldnt move anywhere no matter where or how i approached. They just stood put and breath breath breath. It was huge room so they had plenty of space.
Z type monsters seem to be sleep sometimes now too when they used to always be alert before.

Then i fought raphael. He wouldnt move to me no matter what he just stop 1 square away and sit there and summon and nuke even if he didnt have visibility. If this is common behavior it will make summon corridors pretty hard to use. And a mob like raphael who summons mass angels and ancient dragons which will be power at his level and then they all summon more, not very suitable for fighting in the open.

I suppose serpent will now summon Nutberry and spellwarp too since they are below 100 level?

I quit playing a week ago cus talos was so annoying but now continued trying and figured i just go next to map edge and sit there and quaff like no tomorrow and eventually it went down. His own earthquakes kept the amount of summoned adds to reasonable and i suppose it didnt summon as much as it could.

Destroyer was annoying even tho i got him to 5 stars with an invuln potion. His greater speed and greater damage was still worse than a bit slow talos. His worst part is disintegration breaking all walls and then mass summoning disint breathing adds.

Gotten a few rune drops in 0.0.32 so the current rarity trick isnt working.

Missing only charybdis for artifact creation but it has never spawned. Tried scumming for it a bit in castle but wouldnt spawn.

EQ wise i found a nice +14 speed ring and shiva's boots. Suppose at some point i switch to +3 attack ring. Curiously i have had no luck finding slayer or anglarang which have usually been pretty common for me.

On 20.12.2010 21:32 kingvictory2003 wrote:
Hmm I wonder if you'd do better wearing one of those fine sets of Genji cesti in your home. Those dragon wings you're wearing have some nice resists--maybe worth trying a scroll of artifact creation on them.

Hmm i've done like 20-30 levels between 93-95 and not a single unique has shown up. Charybdis the last wanted never showed up yet either and yeah i have some uniques alive between 80-93 at least.

Palantir and level feeling are so slow too.. i can go pretty much through a large level before getting the first level feeling. Could be a little faster at higher char level or just work faster with faster char speed.

Is there something i can inscribe to an item to stop autodestroyer touching the item when i ID it?

On 23.12.2010 03:58 antiguard@gawab.com wrote:
Master Tonberry down. Got gloves.

His random movement was rather annoying he wouldnt get out of his normal sized room which he spammed full of tonberries every time i try to step in.

Alas tried earthquake staff i found laying around but it didnt fill enough spaces so i reverted to using destruction out of range from MT to fill the room with walls. That didnt work too well but eventually i got him down. Of course he teleported away a few times and spamhealed himself which was quite annoying.

Those ninjaberries dont seem to ever miss with that stealing attack? Its quite annoying because its always 400-500 damage.

Well after a while i also found first artifact creation and did it on cloak. Quite nice one but leaves me with nether open unless i use aggravating collar. All this warrior gear is bad for AC tho cant seem to get to 200.

I thought tonberry gloves would be OP but they actually arent. The -3blows is bad and if you cant wear + attack rings on both hands its better to single wield cus then the damage bonus doesnt get split between hands (if second hand doesnt have the +AT ring). Obviously i try to aim to use weapons with + attacks to get most out of +100 bonus. This also means that my average damage is quite close to what my char screen says because almost all of the damage is from +damage and slays are rather irrelevant due to poor dice on weap. Gife Anglarang.

My damage would be pretty close if i just wore normal gloves and dualwielded but then i wont get shield AC bonus and hit more times so i get blowback from damage shields a lot more. Also to hit would be a lot lower.

Best damage i would get with my weirdo mace of disruption actually... well at least the top end.

Still no sign of charybdis. It seems to be l type monster so maybe going to watermaps would help?

Current 1629 setup is a bit of a posing setup. Cant play with aggravate and no telepathy. Currently i run with 1467 dam and telepathy+reflection+ full con. Had to replace boots and neck and shield to get there.

I'd pretty much need a PowerDSM :( never found one of those well Shiva's chest might work too but that doesnt seem to ever drop either.
