Mindcraft doesn't require very many SP (most spells on very low cost), so you probably don't even need to pump Magic that much if you're waiting for Mindcraft. Very good, you're not pumping Combat (worthless skill).

One last thing to consider:

Pump Archery skill up to 10 or 20, and then get "Create Ammo" ability. You can get really good artifact ammo that way (my current grants +3 dex con speed), though I had one character's ammo give +3 blows.
