The last try in a string of ironman warriors and rogues in both Vanilla and NPP resulted in my first Ironman win ever.

This character started out insanely lucky. She got Boots of Speed at 1100 ft and (at least as important) a rod of Teleport Other shortly after that. At 2050 the luck continued with a Rod of Speed. I have seldom seen this at it's native depth and it's obviously very good for a warrior.

It took until 2600 ft to get resist poison, so detection and teleport away was the tactics. Even so there was at least one occasion when an AMHD saw her for a couple of turns.

One might notice that the speed boots are lacking from the dump. They were even upgraded to +8 when she found an un-identified scroll at 2500 ft. Only two Staffs of Perception had been found up to this point (!), so identifying by trial was still done. And here came my worst non-lethal mistake in any *band. Hmmm Curse Armour/Weapon is native here - better take off all equipment. Ooops the backpack was full, so they dropped to the ground. Never mind - read anyway. Take one guess what happened. I should have taken a moment to think, since the scroll was *Destruction* - naturally.

Since she *was* a lucky gal, she had found a Ring of Speed +8 shortly before that :). So all was not lost.

Cleaned almost all levels except for monsters that threatened either death or inventory depletion - teleported them away. Very few Healings needed until late game due to this.

The last 1000-1500ft she killed all uniques she saw. Sauron was no problem with the equipment you get from this. In the final fight she had prepared bow and slay evil bolts, but whaled away in melee instead. She had a lot of resources - I thought. Here I made another mistake. When Morgoth was down to 2 stars she quaffed a *Healing* ... and became gorged! Ouch - after some dancing around with teleport away on Morgoth she finally killed him off with no Banish left.

Well, the boots took her down so she could find a speed ring, so they did good as long as they lasted.
